New necklace: Bucs!

I just made a few of these Bucs necklaces, and for a limited time they are only $40! They are shiny black copper on a brass chain. See the above pic for shininess, and the pic on the right for scale.

Street View brooches

So, I have been really neglecting this website lately, but I HAVE been busy in the studio making new artwork, and of course it is inspired by Pittsburgh! These are steel and paint brooches that are also moquettes for some larger sculptures. I am pretty excited about these, but I'm also feeling like I should get some new Jewelry N'at designs going for summer. Maybe something to celebrate the Buccos?

PGH belt buckle

I wanted to represent Pittsburgh in the World Championship Belt Buckle competition, so I made this piece. Wish me luck!

The belt buckle is bit larger than I usually work, and it features a yellow brass bridge in the foreground, a silhouette of the Pittsburgh skyline, and the hypo-cycloid Steelers logo in the sky, kind of like fireworks. The back is stamped with lots of Pittsburghese, as well as neighborhoods and landmarks. I originally was going to put a Penguins and Pirates logo on the buckle, but it seemed too crowded so I left them off.

This is a pretty complicated belt buckle, so I can't imagine being able to sell it for less than $150 or so, but I would actually prefer to donate it to a charity auction. Maybe I could get one of the Steelers to sign a piece of metal with a special pen, I could etch their signature into the metal, then attach it to the piece to really add some major value! If anyone can make this happen, please let me know!

Celebrate Pittsburgh's Seasons

I made this custom pendant for a former Pittsburgh resident
who now lives in Southern California and misses the change of seasons in our awesome city. There is a little window with a wheel behind it that spins to reveal a sun, leaf, snowflake, and flower, for each of the four seasons. The pendant is tiny, smaller than a dime!

Custom Kennywood Pendant

Congrats to the winner of the last custom Jewelry N'at giveaway contest, @cibulkar on twitter! This is a one-of-a-kind Kennywood pendant in silver, brass, and copper. I sawed out the silver roller coaster and the Kennywood logo, then riveted the 3 layers together. It was a fun project--I love the challenge of custom work!

Golden Jagoffs!

This is it. The moment we've all been waiting for. Jagoff Jewelry N'at for under $50!

These are 14k gold plated earrings with gold plated ear wires. They were laser cut locally (in Verona, PA) .
More designs are on the way, but this process takes longer than my usual piercing with a jeweler's saw. Suggestions are welcome!

New Giveaway Contest

To celebrate moving my jewelry studio from the Studio Situation on the Northside to a corner in my kitchen (a downgrade, yes, but my pets are happy!) I'm going to have another Jewelry N'at custom giveaway contest.

The rules are simple: just send me your idea for a custom piece of jewelry n'at, either on my facebook page or on twitter, and you are entered to win. Entries are due by Sunday, Oct 23rd at 8pm. I'll put all the entries in a pile and pick a winner at random, then I'll make your piece and send it to you!

As always, I prefer Pittsburgh-themed or personalized designs (I'm not going to re-create a piece designed by someone else--I've got an MFA degree, yinz) and I'll be using sterling silver and brass, since I can't afford to give anything away with gold or gemstones (yinz gotta buy those pieces from me)!

My twitter name is @JagoffJewelry and I can be found here on facebook:

If you need ideas, just look through this website and see some of the pieces I've already made!

Braddock belt buckle

I made this belt buckle intending to give it to David Conrad, but of course I was too shy so I still have it. Maybe I should send it to him? Maybe he looks at this website and will ask me for it? Maybe one of yinz are also really into Braddock and want to buy it from me? $60!

I put the Braddock zip code on the back, too. I can make any neighborhood you want. . .

Take a class with Jewelry N'at

Yinz, yinz, yinz,
I'm going to be teaching some classes on Saturday, Sept 24th and if you've ever wanted to learn some jewelry skills, this is your chance! Here is the info:

Society for Contemporary Craft (in the Strip District)

Piercing Like a Champ with Jewelry N'at 9am-noon
$45 + $10 materials fee (metal, saw blades, tiny drill bits)

Sweat the Small Stuff from 1-4pm
$45 + $10 materials fee
Save $10 if you sign up for both classes!
In the morning class I'll be sharing all my secrets for how to pierce sheet metal, the same way I make all my Pittsburgh-themed Jewelry N'at. You'll be able to design and make your own pendant. In the afternoon class, I'll teach you how to solder your piercing down to a back sheet, to add structure, without a big mess and solder spills. These are beginner level techniques that are super useful at any level! Even master metalsmiths like me use these skills on a regular basis. Feel free to email or comment if you have any questions. To sign up, call the studio folks at Contemporary Craft at 412-261-7003.

Steel City Derby Demons

I made this sweet little Roller Skate pendant for the Steel City Derby Demons fundraiser, A Black Eye Affair, which will be held on Saturday, Aug 27th. The Roller Derby is a great addition to Pittsburgh sports, and if you've never been to a bout, I highly recommend going!

Hilarious "insult" from a misguided Stillers fan

Yinz gotta read this hilarious message I got from a chick on etsy. I couldn't resist sending a snarky message back!

I believe your "charm" would refer to something else, seeing as how the Pittsburgh Steelers is not spelled Stillers. In 1911 Pittsburgh produced half of the nations STELL....which is were thier name derived from.
Stillers, is not even a word.
Good luck selling your necklace.

Haha, obviously you don't live in Pittsburgh! In the local dialect, called Pittsburghese, Steelers is pronounced Stillers, and it is a pretty widely-known inside joke. Since my work is specifically made for local, true Pittsburgh-loving fans, they "get it," and I also don't have to worry about NFL licensing infringement.

I'm flattered that you took the time to point out my "error," and in doing so misspelled the word Steel. Maybe next time you decide to send a rude message, you'll take the time to research what you're criticizing and make use of your computer's spell check feature.

Thanks for the laugh!

Another PGH neighborhood

Ever since the onlyinpgh photo contest featuring Pittsburgh neighborhoods I have been wanting to make as many different Pittsburgh neighborhoods as I have time (and silver) for. Kelly won the contest with a great pic of Oakland, but she opted for a more nonspecific "da Burgh" pendant (featured below) as her prize.

Luckily I then got a commission for this Sewickley pendant. I still want to make lots of other neighborhoods though! There was a great post in Pop City this week about Troy Hill. Anybody want some Troy Hill joohlry?
